Educators are encouraged to watch and participate in this day as an entire school or in departments or grade groups. Educators can meet in one space and project the virtual sessions as well as have the opportunity to discuss pieces with one another throughout.

Morning Virtual Keynote (K-12), Jean Teillet

Jean Teillet is an author, lawyer, treaty negotiator, and a women’s rights and Indigenous rights advocate. She is a frequent public speaker primarily on Aboriginal rights, justice, identity and equality issues. She has appeared at the Supreme Court of Canada twelve times in Indigenous rights cases. Her popular history, The North-West is Our Mother was one of the Globe & Mail’s top 100 books of 2019 and won the Carol Shield’s and Manitoba Day awards. She is also the author of Métis Law in Canada and has written for academic journals, the Globe & Mail and Macleans. Jean was the first recipient of the Law Society of Upper Canada’s Lincoln Alexander Award and was awarded the title “Indigenous Peoples Counsel” by the Indigenous Bar Association. The Métis Nation gave her its highest honour, the Order of the Métis Nation.

Mid-Morning Virtual Author/Artist/Matriarch (K-12), Annette Loe

Annette Loe is a mature Northern Dené, Norwegian, French writer, artist, facilitator, traveler, and educator. She is known as a trusted relationship bridge builder and mentor with strong ethics, cultural knowledge, and a firm working knowledge of Indigenous Rights and Title, TRC, UNDRIP, DRIPA, RS and Reconciliation. Annette is an old soul who speaks with integrity, patience, and understanding as she artfully bridges understanding between our diverse cultures in many ways.

Afternoon Virtual Speaker (K-12), Zakary Myers & June Bernard

Zakary Myers is a non-binary Two-spirit Dene education consultant from Fort Nelson, British Columbia and the BC provincial lead for ARC Foundation's SOGI 123 program. June Bernard is a cis-gendered Cree Elder fro Sandy Bay, Saskatchewan and spiritual healer at Mystic Medicines - a small Indigenous owned and operated business in the heart of Yaletown.
