DESCRIPTION

Scratch is a free program that allows students to code games, music and interactive stories using code blocks.  


DISTRICT APPROVAL: CONDITIONAL 

This resource is approved for K - Grade 12 classroom use in the Surrey School District.  This resource is free.


TOOLS & FEATURES

  • Teachers can access resources, tutorials, and projects for their students by clicking the blue button "for educators" in the middle of the page,  
  • Students can create programs, explore scratch tutorials, download and print coding cards for step-by-step instructions, and visit the ideas page for more inspiration.  
  • Students and teachers can also explore other user's creations and get ideas for their own projects by clicking the "explore" button found on the blue bar.

ACCESS STEPS

For Teachers: 

  1. Click here to find out more about Scratch Teacher accounts
  2. Click here to request a Scratch Teacher account
  3.  You will receive a verification email (check your junk mail if you don’t see it)
  4. Click "Confirm my email address" in the verification email
  5. You can log into your Scratch Account now, but the features specific to teachers are not yet available until approved by Scratch
  6. Please see Teacher Account FAQ if you have any questions 

 For Students: 

  1. To join a class your teacher has created, click the link that your teacher sent you
  2. Click "get started" in the green bar
  3. Create a username and password
  4. Click "Next step" and fill in the required information
  5. Click "Go to Class" in the green bar
  6. If your teacher didn’t send you a link and you want to create your own account, click here to go to Scratch
  7. Click the "Join" button with the lightning bolt
  8. Fill in the information (do not use your real name)
  9. You will receive a verification email (check your junk mail)
  10. Click "Confirm my account" found in the email

Welcome, Digital Ninja

Speed, technique, agility, refinement. These are the skills of a trained ninja. Your mission, Digital Ninja, is to exercise and practice your skills to break out of these 4 escape rooms. The clock is ticking, the challenges are waiting. Do you dare?

Collect the secret letters at the end of each escape room and unscramble them to break free. Good luck Ninja…we know you can do it!

How to Play

Supplies:

  • Pencil
  • Paper
  • Device

Instructions:

  • Click on one of the breakout rooms to start a challenge
  • On the breakout room page, turn on the timer when ready (45 minutes)
  • Read Section 1 of the form on the left, then click NEXT
  • Hover your mouse around the Google Slide on the right to find different clues. Click on the clues
  • Use the form on the left to enter your clue answers. Clues could be questions, numbers, colours, directions, or words
  • You won't be able to move on to the next section until you've entered the correct clue answer. If you enter a wrong answer, you'll be given a hint
  • You will be given two secret letters after you complete each breakout room. Once you have all 8 secret letters, unscramble the letters to make the secret code word and click the final lock to break free!
