Listening and speaking in any language is one of the most important things you can be doing with your child. This supports children’s reading and writing skills.
Talk with your child about:
- what you see around your home, out the window, outdoors
- what they are feeling
- the best part of their day
- what was hard about the day
- what they are looking forward to tomorrow
Talk with your child while:
- you are cooking (or anything you do)
- you are reading
- you are watching movies
- you are driving
- at every opportunity!
Sing familiar songs and perhaps learn some new ones.
