Two more science digital resources have been approved for use in Surrey! Both of these resources are free to use.

PhET

  • PhET is an open-source suite of math and science simulations made available at no charge by the University of Colorado (Boulder).
  • FREE online simulations that explore advanced science concepts
  • Many simulations allow students to do labs that would be impossible otherwise (ie. gravitational energy, atomic structure, climate change over time)
  • Includes a number of teacher-created lesson plans using the simulations in inquiry-based science.

Tracker Online

  • Tracker is a free video analysis and modeling tool built on the Open Source Physics (OSP) Java framework hosted by the AAPT. It is designed to be used in physics education, to capture videos of science phenomena and analyze data with computer modeling.
  • FREE online tool that allows students to import videos of hands-on labs involving motion of objects and track the motion by clicking the location on each frame of the video.
  • Tool creates data tables and multiple graphs for analysis of complex motion.
