Gravity Track

Build cars (out of wood, cardboard, or even LEGO) and race them down! The gravity track is a large metal track that's over 30 feet long, so it works best in a large space (like a gym, learning commons, or multipurpose room).

Rocket Launcher

Pump it up and watch them fly! Students can create paper rockets out of cardstock and launch them into the sky. Experiment, prototype, and iterate to discover the best rocket design!

Note: Please fill out the Air Rocket Launcher Safety Precautions form before using the launcher with your students.

micro:bits

A micro:bit is a pocket-sized computer that introduces you to how software and hardware work together. It has an LED light display, buttons, sensors and many input/output features that you can program and physically interact with. Use MakeCode to program your micro:bit to do amazing things!

The district micro:bit kit comes with 30 micro:bits.

Makey Makey

What is Makey Makey?
It's a simple invention kit for beginners or experts doing art, engineering, and everything in between.

How Does it Work?
Alligator Clip two objects to the Makey Makey. For example, you and a banana (or an ice cube, or a kitty cat). When you touch the banana, the computer just thinks a keyboard key is being pressed, so you can type a letter, jump in a video game, take a picture, or play some music.

Who is Makey Makey For?
Kids, Artists, Educators, Engineers, Inventors, Makers. Really it is for everyone.

What can I create?
Make a banana piano, play Mario on a play dough game pad, take a selfie of your cat every time she drinks water. 1000s of Projects & Lesson Plans can be found at Makeymakey.com such as: Simple Circuits Challenge, Blackout Poetry, Distance Rate and Time Switches

Programmable robot ball designed to inspire creativity and curiosity through coding and play.

Oxford Punch Needles (Secondary Only)

Oxford Punch Needles are specialized tools used for punch needle rug hooking, a craft that involves creating textured designs by punching loops of yarn through a fabric base.

The district kit comes with 30 Oxford punch needles.

Note: The Oxford punch needles are for secondary classes only

Welcome, Digital Ninja

Speed, technique, agility, refinement. These are the skills of a trained ninja. Your mission, Digital Ninja, is to exercise and practice your skills to break out of these 4 escape rooms. The clock is ticking, the challenges are waiting. Do you dare?

Collect the secret letters at the end of each escape room and unscramble them to break free. Good luck Ninja…we know you can do it!

How to Play

Supplies:

  • Pencil
  • Paper
  • Device

Instructions:

  • Click on one of the breakout rooms to start a challenge
  • On the breakout room page, turn on the timer when ready (45 minutes)
  • Read Section 1 of the form on the left, then click NEXT
  • Hover your mouse around the Google Slide on the right to find different clues. Click on the clues
  • Use the form on the left to enter your clue answers. Clues could be questions, numbers, colours, directions, or words
  • You won't be able to move on to the next section until you've entered the correct clue answer. If you enter a wrong answer, you'll be given a hint
  • You will be given two secret letters after you complete each breakout room. Once you have all 8 secret letters, unscramble the letters to make the secret code word and click the final lock to break free!
