WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

Connect and collaborate with your colleagues through this interactive session! This session is appropriate for teachers in English and French Immersion, K-7. Educators will explore how skills in oral language, reading, and writing develop progressively and are deeply interconnected, taking into account the child’s overall development and the specific context of French immersion.

Through concrete examples, authentic classroom scenarios, and collaborative discussions, teachers will expand their knowledge of playful practices that support vocabulary acquisition, language comprehension, and the development of reading and writing skills. The session will promote rich, meaningful, and inclusive learning.

Participants will leave with:

  • An understanding of oral language as the foundation of literacy across the grades
  • Ways to integrate purposeful and playful practices into literacy instruction in English and French immersion;
  • Ideas for measuring the impact of these strategies in order to further support student learning

This session will be offered in both English and French Immersion
