Planning For Success: Exploring Strategies for Rich Math Instruction

DETAILS:

Presenter: Jess Kyle
Date: Thursday, August 29, 2024
Time: 9:30am-12:15pm
Location: Virtual

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

In this workshop, we will explore instructional strategies, inspired by Canadian mathematics leader Marian Small, such as 3-part lessons and Open Questions. Participants will learn effective strategies for questioning and assessing in open ways that allow for all students to participate. Strategies for planning for successful inclusion of all learners will be discussed and practiced. Additional time to explore resources that support this pedagogy will be included, so it is beneficial, although not required, for participants to have access to a MathUP license or Marian Small books during the session. The intent of the session is for teachers to leave with confidence in their ability to plan for all students to succeed, using the resources available in your school.
