PRIVACY INFO
- The scope of this PIA is limited to the free teacher version of Teach Aid which has limited functionality and fewer administrative tools than the paid version.
- TeachAid uses the OpenAI/Chat GPT platform.
- TeachAid is hosted in Canada on secure servers owned by Digital Ocean.
- While the platform is not designed to collect or store student personal information, teachers could conceivably add student information when customising lesson plans, creating individualized learning activities or working on IEP or inclusive education documents. Teachers should use caution when using these tools to not include student names or other personal/sensitive personal information.
- To establish a teacher account, a school email address is required, along with First Name, Last Name, School, District and Role.
- Teachers cannot invite students to access the TeachAid platform. Rather, lessons, worksheets and other resources are downloaded for student use either in the classroom or in a LMS
- In general, teachers should be reminded that the system collects and stores ANY information it is provided with on ANY topic, no matter how personal. Caution is advised.
- By uploading content to the platform, teachers are granting TeachAid a license to use that content to improve the platform.
- Teachers can share a lesson with other teachers by sending them a link to the lesson. The platform creator says that lessons cannot be similarly shared with students. However, there is no technical safeguard preventing this.
- Because there is not yet student access to Teach Aid, parental consent is not required.
