DESCRIPTION

A collaborative and interactive wall- digital tool with many options for user response, useful for remote applications in either a digital or traditional classroom.  Could be used for brainstorming, learning responses, continuing conversation, assessment, group communication.


DISTRICT USE: APPROVED  

  • This resource requires a signed Technology Tool Consent form for student use in the Surrey School District
  • This resource is pending approved for K - 12 classroom use in the Surrey School District
  • Basic access is available through Surrey Schools Office 365 account for Teachers and Students


TOOLS & FEATURES

  • response types available: text, audio voice recording, drawing, photo, video 

  • web searching capability to use online content, links can be added 

  • students don't require login information if they have the QR code available to them 


OTHER INFORMATION

There are good tutorials on YouTube to help learn this web tool. Can be used with privacy settings so only you have access, or you can invite others to join in, or it could be made public for anyone.  Can be shared on email, Twitter, Google Classroom, QR Code or Facebook.

Users please note this resource:

  • is not FOIPPA compliant (server outside of Canada)
  • collects personal information
  • collects computer information (IP address and location)
  • has free access to full service for a limited period of time (COVID dependent)

ACCESS STEPS

For Teachers:  

  1. Click here to go to Padlet
  2. Click "Sign Up," then "Sign Up with Microsoft"
  3. Sign in with your Surrey Schools username and password 
  4. Click “Make a Padlet” 
  5. Select Padlet template (wall, canvas...) 
  6. Modify title, description, appearance, posting and content filtering specifics 
  7. Open share capability on the wall (top right), get QR code, take a screenshot of it. This will be sent to students 

 For Students:  

  1. Open camera app on iPad or phone and point at QR code sent from teacher (do not take a picture)  
  2. Tap on "Open padlet.com." Padlet wall will come up
  3. Tap pink + circle bottom right corner to make a post
  4. Type your name in Title section so your teacher knows it is from you
