PRIVACY INFO
- Canva for Education is approved for use in the Surrey School District. Canva Free and Canva Pro are NOT district-approved. Using a public Canva account (i.e. Canva Free and Canva Pro) for students is strongly discouraged because Canva extensively shares personal information from public accounts with outside parties and serves up significant amounts of third-party advertising.
- Student first name, last name and email address are required to establish a student account. No personal information is needed for teacher accounts.
- Teachers should consistently use the built-in privacy settings to ensure their students' personal information remains secure. Students should be cautioned against including personal information in the content they create.
- There are privacy concerns around the sheer volume of third-party links to other tools, templates and products within Canva for Education. Teachers should caution students from clicking on links without first asking permission. Teachers should review privacy policies from third-party sites before allowing access.
- Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Data is stored in multiple locations in the United States on servers owned by cloud storage providers. Personal data may sometimes be accessed by Canva staff/contractors in multiple additional countries when providing user support.
- There is no advertising served to students on Canva for Education.
- Canva seems to share personal information with various third parties to an extent that well surpasses the need to do so simply to run the service. While they claim this does not happen with student information, a high degree of caution is advised. And while student account credentials are not shared, their content and any personal information in that content may be.
- There are no serious privacy concerns with this service as long as teachers/schools use Canva for Education and utilize the privacy settings available.
- Canva collects computer information (IP address and location)
