Time: 3:00 pm - 4:30pm
Location: Virtual

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

This workshop is designed to empower classroom teachers with the knowledge and strategies needed to support the social and emotional development of students. We will look at how it's connected to "Health Education" in the PHE curriculum.

It’s exciting to announce that Surrey Schools now has access to the new updated Kids in the Know Digital version. In this workshop you will be introduced to the goals of the program; the teaching methods used in the lessons; the 7 root safety strategies that the program is based on; what steps to take before starting the program; and how to introduce the lessons to students in a fun, age-appropriate way. Kids in the Know (KIK) is the Canadian Centre for Child Protection’s national, bilingual, interactive safety education program for use in kindergarten to high school classrooms that uses age-appropriate lessons to increase children’s personal safety skills to reduce their risk of victimization online and offline.

The lessons are matched to the British Columbia PHE Curricular Competencies and Content and are purposefully designed to create a common language to help facilitate the way we teach kids about personal safety.

  • a Teams link will be emailed to you prior to the workshop date
