Full Day at DEC with up to 14 teachers through their Department Leader
This will be funded using DHRDs. Please email me the name of the teacher(s) you would like to send and book the DHRD immediately ([email protected]).
The flow of the day:
- Curriculum: aspects of the new curriculum and how they all fit together
- Unit Planning: KDU Model
- Curricular Competencies/Historical Thinking Concepts/Benchmarks (article and guideposts, ‘Competencies and Me’ activity)
- Assessment (Proficiency Levels)
- Sample of a grade 9 unit
- Print resources and Digital resources available
- Unit planning time: Bring a unit idea and some materials that you would like to work on or that you have started. I will be there to be a critical friend and be sure to help you move forward with it, so you have something usable by the end of the day.
Further follow up with group:
- Create TEAM chat/channel in the SS Team for New Teachers from DEC day to collaborate with one another.
- In-school visits/support/mentorship for New Teachers from DEC day. I will come to their site and help them plan/co-teach/do a model lesson/discuss assessment/etc.
