DESCRIPTION:

The BC Ministry of Education and Child Care has launched a three-year provincial literacy project to enhance the quality of literacy instruction and impact student learning across the province. In alignment with this initiative, our district is offering targeted support to schools through a collaboration with the district literacy team.

Responding to Readers is designed for schools seeking to deepen their collective expertise around how students learn to read and comprehend, quality assessment practices, effective learning environments, and responsive, evidence-informed instructional routines.

The Responding to Readers model is changing for 2025-26. We invite schools to designate one or two Literacy Success Leaders (K-9) to engage in a year-long collaboration with the district literacy team and play a key role in building professional capacity and instructional expertise within their school communities.

Schools will identify Literacy Success Leads in June. Administrators received the Expression of Interest form link in the Confidential Memo. Please work with administrators to complete the form.

Please express interest by June 13, 2025.
