During this series we will consider complexities of reading comprehension in intermediate grades and respond with instruction that effectively meets our readers capacities and areas of unmet potential. To support our explorations of reading comprehension across the curriculum, we will utilize a framework that centers three key considerations – the development of skills necessary to comprehend text; the impact of reader mindsets on meaningful engagement and the empowerment of readers, with their deeper understandings and knowledge, to take action in the world around them.
