Dr. Julia Lindsey’s “Reading Above the Fray: Reliable, Research-Based Routines for Developing Decoding Skills” offers evidence-informed routines to support classrooms where early readers decode words efficiently, thereby freeing up energy for comprehension and reading enjoyment. The book offers need-to-know essentials of how children learn to read, principles of high-quality foundational skills instruction, and teacher-approved instructional "swaps" to improve early reading instruction.
Up to six school groups are welcome to receive a kit to facilitate a “Reading Above the Fray” book club throughout the school year.
Each kit contains:
- 5 copies of the book
- 5 copies of a Discussion Guide
One representative from each school group would attend a virtual book club launch on Tuesday, November 12th from 2:45 to 3:15pm to discuss book study ideas and receive resources to support learning beyond the book.
Interested groups can request a kit using the Form before November 8th.
