WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

As spring approaches, kindergarten and primary teachers will look to reassess children’s development of essential phonemic awareness skills before the end of the school year. The ELPATS (Early Literacy Phonemic Awareness Tool Surrey) is a classroom assessment tool accessible to primary teachers district-wide to support the ongoing development of each child’s phonemic awareness.

Learn about the ELPATS by joining a 45-minute virtual workshop on Thursday, May 2nd at 3:00 pm. We will explore:

  • why phonemic awareness is significant for reading and writing
  • how the ELPATS helps teachers uncover students’ developing mastery of phonemic awareness
  • how the ELPATS app captures each child’s progress, providing continuity and planning data for school teams
