Classroom teachers (Gr 4-7) are invited to participate in a collaborative learning series to critically examine instructional resources we choose to bring to our learners.
For decades, Dr Rudine Simms Bishop has encouraged educators to consider the influence our instructional text selections have on our learners – their classroom engagement, identity development, perception of the world around them and their sense of being valued within their school communities. We will critically examine messages communicated by our routines and resources, processes that support retiring and refreshing instructional materials that do not serve our learners, as well as rich cross-curricular routines to foster learners’ capacity building.
Teachers are encouraged to join as a team, but welcome as individuals. There is one release day per your team (not one release day per participant). Teams sessions are live, with no recordings.
Series Dates: Wednesday, Jan. 17 2:45 - 3:45 PM on Teams
Release Day: Monday, January 29
Tuesday, Feb. 20 2:45 – 3:45 PM on Teams
