Literate students can make meaning from text and express themselves in a variety of modes, they are able to comprehend, make connections, critically analyze, and create texts and communicate for a variety of purposes. (Ministry of Education and Child Care, 2025)
Literacy assessments are formal and informal assessments used to pinpoint specific areas of strength and areas of growth where instructional support is needed to move students forward in their learning. Reading and writing assessment data provides information to guide responsive instructional decisions, gain insights on learner progress, as well as gauge the effectiveness of instruction.
