PART 1: SHARING MY STORY

This time of social distancing has led to many changes in our lives, in the lives of those around us, and the communities in which we live.  Part one of this learning opportunity invites students to look inwards at their own thoughts and feelings, and explore how they are being impacted at this time. We are living through history right now, and it is important for us to capture, in an array of stories, how we are feeling and choosing to respond so that we can remember where we came from and pass these lessons on to those who come after us.

Teachers are encouraged to make adaptations and pace learning as appropriate for their students and context.

PART 2: MOVING FORWARD WITH OTHERS

This time of social distancing has led to many changes in our lives, the lives of those around us, and the communities in which we live. Sometimes, this might feel like a time of hardship and despair, but at other times, it might feel like a time of ease and hope. One thing is for certain: this is a time to pause—to reflect on where we are in this moment, on who we are and want to be in the way we navigate this new territory. Part two of this learning opportunity invites students to look outwards on how others are choosing to respond during this time.

This lesson includes Français langue, Science and ADST cross curricular connections.

Teachers are encouraged to make adaptations and pace learning as appropriate for their students and context.

PART 3: WISDOM IS KNOWLEDGE IN ACTION

We have had many weeks now to find some rhythm in this time that is so out of tune with our normal lives, and have had a chance to process some of the ways in which we have been impacted. In this lesson, we invite students to turn their attention inward again, just for a moment, to see how we can move forward for the benefit of ourselves, our loved ones, and our communities. Students are invited to consider how they will respond to the knowledge and lessons that they have gained during this experience, and how these have contributed to their evolving identity.

Teachers are encouraged to make adaptations and pace learning as appropriate for their students and context.

PART 4: BRIDGING THE PAST AND THE PRESENT

We live in a time when excessive information is available at our fingertips.  We are inundated with both accurate information as well as misinformation, or fake news, which requires us to be able to distinguish between the two.  In this lesson, students are invited to explore and critically analyze current and historical pandemics in order to help individuals, families, and communities make responsible choices that affect their health and well-being.

Teachers are encouraged to make adaptations and pace learning as appropriate for their students and context.
