LEARNING OPPORTUNITY - "ALMA AND HOW SHE GOT HER NAME"

Invitations from Early Learning & Literacy, Indigenous, Social Studies and SEL Helping Teachers to spark learning using the book “Alma and How She Got Her Name” by Juana Martinez-Neal. The author of this book has been chosen as the Global Read Aloud creator of 2020 (LINK) Teachers may consider participating in the Global Read Aloud project to further explore the book and some of her other titles.

These invitations live under headings of Connect, Explore, and Respond and may take multiple pathways to learning. Included are possibilities to connect remote learning with face to face instruction. These ideas are open ended and designed to be inclusive for all learners and their families.

This invitation to learning includes a Numeracy cross curricular connection.

Teachers are encouraged to make adaptations and pace learning as appropriate for their students and context.
