Territory Acknowledgements

A territory acknowledgement is a formal statement recognizing the Indigenous People who have historically lived on and cared for the land you are on. It acknowledges the ongoing presence of Indigenous communities and the need to address the historical harms of colonialism. These statements honour the Indigenous peoples on whose land one is residing, promote awareness of Indigenous history, and signal a commitment to building respectful relationships through acts of reconciliation.
